Programs

Pleasant Valley Connection serves as a community development organization that provides programs for all ages. We connect residents in the community to needed services in the greater Greenville community.

Pleasant Valley Connection has several programs offered to youth, their families and seniors within the Pleasant Valley community. Since our inception in 2004, Pleasant Valley Connection has proven its success.

Early Childhood Development 3/4K:

(7:30 am-6:00 pm)

Pleasant Valley Connection offers a 3/4K program that focuses on school readiness and interactive learning. We recognize that high-quality early childhood education has lasting effects on the desire and motivation to learn.

Pleasant Valley After School Tutorial:

Offers one-on-one time with elementary students helping with homework as part of an after-school program offered Monday – Friday from 2:30 – 6:00 p.m., conducted by staff/teacher(s) and community volunteers.

Summer Day Camp for Youth:

(7:45 am – 5:30 pm with late stay available until 6:00 pm)

Pleasant Valley Connection conducts a regularly scheduled summer day camp full of activities for youth K5-5th grades.

The camp is comprised of eight fun-filled weeks extending from June to August.

A typical week includes: reading and math readiness sessions, character development, physical fitness, positive peer interaction, arts and crafts, outside play, bowling, ice skating, roller skating, swimming and enrichment field trips such as Discovery Place, Atlanta Zoo, Roper Mountain Science Center, South Carolina State Museum, and Edventure Center.

Outside of their normal routines, many of these children do not have an opportunity to participate in activities like these, and in many cases, may never have the opportunity.

Senior Program:

(Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm)

The Pleasant Valley Connection’s Senior Citizen Program is at no-charge to seniors.

The overall program objectives and goals are to provide activities that promote healthy living. Some include:

  • Assist seniors in achieving and maintaining their maximum level of functioning
  • Increase healthy diet and lifestyles
  • Increase physical activities through exercise
  • Increase socialization through the participation in community activities and events
  • Offer stimulation through recreational opportunities, craft projects, computer training, bridge, board games, other fun activities and occasional outings
  • Reduce loneliness and offer opportunities for friendship
  • Provide respite and support for families caring for elderly members
  • Provide information and referral to other community services and programs

The program is supervised by a Program Coordinator with the assistance of volunteers. Current attendance averages 55 seniors per day. This number increases during warmer weather. Lunch is provided each day. Approximately 165 meals are served per week, totaling 8,580 annually. In some circumstances, this might be the only nutritious meal he/she might get that day. The above objectives will be measured through the compilation of participant surveys, record reviews, food quizzes, weigh-ins, and blood pressure screenings.
